Maria Luz Elena "Len" N. Canilao is Associate Professor at the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) and the current English Department's Associate Chair for Language Programs. She has worked as an ELT (English Language Teaching) consultant for various institutions including ACELT (Ateneo Center for English Language Teaching), CHED (Commission on Higher Education), DepEd (Department of Education), and British Council, Philippines. Len's works focus on multilingual education; language planning and policy; Discourses; translanguaging; Global Englishes; unequal Englishes; ELT principles and practices; and materials design and development. Her research discoveries have enabled her to review her ELT paradigm and they have inspired her to produce innovative tasks to empower learners in multicultural and multilingual classrooms. Moreover, her findings have encouraged her to support the promotion of linguistic rights and cultural diversity in various domains particularly in the field of education.
