Dr. De Las Peñas is Professor, Department of Mathematics, Ateneo de Manila University. She is currently the President of the National Research Council of the Philippines. She is also the column editor of The Mathematical Tourist for the journal The Mathematical Intelligencer and co-editor of the journal Acta Crystallographica Section A: Foundations and Advances.
Her research interests are Group Theory, Discrete Geometry, Mathematical Crystallography and Technology in Mathematics Education.
