About

Edgar Calabia Samar is an award-winning poet and novelist. His works have won major literary prizes in the Philippines including the Palanca Awards, the NCCA Writer's Prize, the National Children's Book Award, and the National Book Award. The translation of his first novel to English was longlisted for the 2009 Man Asian Literary Prize. His works have been adapted on stage, in TV, and in graphic novel form. As a scholar, his research centers on the gothic and the fantastic, on the development of the Filipino novel, including the komiks novels, and on the "structures of feeling" in Philippine poetry and fiction.
